TOF Fun Cam

How to make an ID photo online (free)

You can make a passable ID or passport photo without a studio trip — a plain background, the right size, and even lighting are most of what you need. Here's how to do it free in your browser with TOF Fun Cam, and what to watch out for.

Step by step

  1. Pick a size. Common ones are 1×1 inch, 2×2 inch, and passport 35×45mm. Not sure? Check the form or office you're submitting to.
  2. Choose a background colour. White is the safe default; light blue, grey and red are also used for some IDs.
  3. Take the photo. Face the camera straight on, neutral expression, both ears/shoulders roughly level. ID Photo mode replaces the background and auto-crops your head to the right proportion.
  4. Download & print. You get the single sized photo plus a print-ready 4R sheet of copies you can print at home or hand to a print shop.

Common ID photo sizes

These are the sizes TOF Fun Cam can output, with their pixel dimensions at 300 DPI (print quality):

Not sure which to use? The office or form you're submitting to will usually state the exact size and background colour.

Tips for a photo that gets accepted

Is it good enough for official use?

For school, work, membership and many everyday requirements, a clean white-background photo at the right size is usually fine. For strict passport or government submissions, rules about background, shadows and head size are exact — treat this as an "ID-style" photo and double-check the official requirements, or have it printed and checked at Tof Creations.

Running a photobooth or print shop?

The print-ready sheet tiles multiple copies onto standard paper, so it's a quick, free way to turn a single capture into a printable ID sheet for a customer.
